A corporate web site

Hello all, I know it's probably rude to ask for site reviews in my first post but here goes.

I could use your opinon on this site:

Please don't spare me the needed criticism, both good and bad (mostly bad is what I'm curious about)

It's just a shell of a design without real content (and yes it's not in english, but I feel the navigation is pretty self explanatory). It's for a client, the only thing that was requested as a must is the green-blue curtain on the left.

Ok ;)

Well, the swoosh on the landing page is too big.

This page http://klijenti.zebra-ds.hr/ponude/webak13/
People are used once when you 1st visit the site, don't over do it with them. Just place one person maybe?

Kinda like this page has a logo on it http://klijenti.zebra-ds.hr/ponude/webak13/

Now when viewing the site the real content is not even in the top fold of the website or at least some of it. Having to scroll to see what any site is about is a no no. At least make 1/2 of it show up.

Scroll really should only be two bars worth.. top - bottom. And you've got that but then the red scroll looking bar is clicked right away to see more text but there is none. Maybe just a line instead or remove it.

Overall it's good that you come ask before your done with the layout. Smart move :)

With a huge curtain like that I can only see down to the top of the image below 'Croatian dream'. So basically if the curtain took a dirt nap you could put the square links on the left hand side, and thereby elevate the actual content. I know you said it's a requirement but I think you just have to tell him/her/them that it just doesn't work. It'll pretty much obstruct half the page on the most common resolutions out there. Either drop it or cut it down for size. The rest of the design would be totally fine without it! :)

Edit: Didn't see Snerdey's post, I concur! ;)

It was like the Energizer Bunny... it just kept loading and loading and loading and loading and loading and loading and loading and loading...

That's OK if your selected audience will ALL be using broadband. However, most Internet users in America still use a dial-up connection, and if you are not designing for a selected audience you should keep that in mind.

When it comes to website design - just because you can doesn't mean you should. Flash is cool, but it's slow. Most users will not wait for a slow website. What is it now - four or six seconds and they're outta there?

Thanks for all the valuable comments guys.

@JayT
Target audience here uses broadband, dial up is pretty much a thing of the past here, so flash is a valid option.
Also there is supposed to be a html version of the site as well for slower connections, but the flash one is main focus.

Your welcome!

I'm seeing the old "take your pick" to enter websites come back. Two large logo's with link to dial up or flash.

It's best to give them a choice and not use the auto detect.

Good luck and enjoy life ;)
