Google's new Free wireless offer - TiSP

In 1983 I attended the euro cast '83 exhibition (cable and satalite television) where a company from Sheffield England was demonstrating a little robot crawler device that could pull a fibre optic cable through a four inch soil pipe. So maybe rear end data traversal is not so strange as it seems.

Okay so my site is listed on Google but...

Google is an irelavance for commercial sites. It can take as much as six months to find your site appropriately listed and for some sites it may never happen. If it is a commercial site then you have to advertise just like any other business. If you get listed well on any of the search engines...

    DVD Compatability PAL NTSC?

PAL and NTSC are National Television video standards whereas DVD information is stored as compressed digital data and only transcribed into video when it is played out. The upshot of which is if you Burn a DVD in london it can be played in New York without any need for standards conversion.

    Help! Please!

I say this as a professional photographer. Never put anything on the web that you're not prepared to have stolen or plagiarised. By all means have a legitimate copyright statement to cover your work, but don't expect it to be respected. Once you upload a file to a webserver, then you have...

    Domain name opinions

The number of times a person is required to actually type a URL is probably fairly low. Most traffic will come via an external link reference. Domain name length is presumably therefore not much of an issue, so on balance, I would go for the more descriptive and or memorable.

    Web Design logo

Not everyone can be a graphic designer, in fact in my opinion that's one of the problems with many websites - too many people who try do everything themselves. My honest opinion; your logo looks like what it is; some text and a bit of clipart.

    Move DB to new host

Unless you have got one hell of a good broadband connection then I suggest you ask the server admin from your new host to transfer all the files from your previous host's server to the new one. That will save you an awfull lot of time and will be a lot less hassle.

Perl vs PHP vs ASP vs ASP.NET

The .net framework is not tied to a particular operating system as some of you seem to think. For more information on this, look up "The mono project".

    Have domain name. now what?

A co-located server in UK datacentre costs between £1000 and £2000 p.a. How many websites need to run on server at £30 p.a. to make a profit? I also forgot to mention that a business hosting provider should offer 24/7/365 telephone support not just web or email support.

    Have domain name. now what?

When selecting a hosting company for a business website then you should be looking for a business hosting provider. If you opt for shared hosting then you need to know that server is not running dozens of other sites or any resource intesive sites like gaming sites for example. You should also...

    Views on my site.

I have had a quick look at your source code and it looks fairly typical of the kind of markup the VS2005 form designer will spit out which is targeted specifically at IE browsers. I suggest as a starting point you go to www.w3schools.com and started getting to grips with CSS, standards compliant...

Images for Website Templates - Help!!!

Unless your contract specificly requires you to supply the images and their licences, then I would suggest that you just create the designs using mocked up comping images and let your client swap them out after you deliver.

The first thing I got was a screen saying that the browser I'm using (Firefox) is not supported and I have to use IE6 or 7. This is NetWeb suicide! According to the most current Stats Firefox user-agents now accounts for 47% of most website traffic and in the IE camp something like 60% are still...

    High quality images?

Do you design websites for free; and if not why not. For some reason, half the so called web designers in these fora think that photographers should give their work away free to people who then charge for it.
