It's only one of the important places - and the URL is less of a factor in SEO than it used to be. A couple of years ago, it seemed to give a clear advantage to use a keyword in the URL. Then for a while, it seemed that Google might be penalizing for it. Now it appears to help, or be neutral...

I like it because it breaks up the content and makes it more digestible and easier to read :)

It wasn't my statistic - just one that I heard. But it stands that my own WordPress business site and many that we have set up for clients are doing very well in terms of search rankings :)

We use that keyphrase all over our Home page, in an intentional but natural way. It is our primary keyphrase, which describes exactly what we do - and is also included in our business name.

I love sidebars and think they're an excellent way to break up the imagery and content and make the site more dynamic :)
