    hosting for beginners

It depends on what you are trying to do. If you simply just want to learn html then you can do that on your home computer, but if you wish to utilize scripts or learn dynamic languages then you can probably find a free provider that allows that functionality (some require a simple ad or link to...

Being a past and present vBulletin board admin I am quite familiar with the licensing options, availability and requirements. So are you saying that because this board has the latest 3.x build installed that the sever it is hosted on may never upgrade its compilations or that no security...

Let me ask you this: Would keep doing work with a corporation if the board of directors left the company for the managers and department leads to run? Don't get me wrong, I am not going to stop posting here if the moderators are doing a good job of policing, but there are many tasks involved...

Perception is everything; it doesn't matter what is, but instead what the site's visitors perceive. showgroups will show all members of usergroups that have the "show on showsgroups" setting to ON and I know that admin groups default this to ON. If a forum's administrator wants to hide the...

    Speed up FireFox

    run an .exe online

No it is not possible to run an executable application within any web server. The is a huge security risk and any server administrator that would develop a script allowing such applications to run on their own server is a retard. BTW, not calling you a retard for asking this; it was directed at...

    Hello from Option9 Hosting

Oh no; I would never ostracize anyone for anything that I may not participate in or have first hand knowledge of; I just didn't know what the acronym stood for. The only content that is not allowed to be hosted on our servers is of illegal intent/behavior. You are free to host whatever adult...

Help?! I'm at my wits end.

I haven't done any testing in safari, but I don't see where I did not close the footer div in firefox or ie and the code should be the same in all browsers. It may not display the same, but i'm sure if the footer div is closed in ff and ie then it is closed in safari. I'll look into the issue...

    Updating Robots.txt and Sitemap.sml files

Your sitemap, yes. Your robots.txt no, unless you are going to specifically allow/deny the new page or you create a new directory and will then need to declare it in the robots.txt.

Very true. I'll keep the data sources to the current page url.

    Social Media Links (Placement/Usefullness)

Good point, but I would still leave the announcements and articles sections to use the current page's url, however for my plan pages/company info pages/domain page it just seems like the homepage would suffice.
