you should use an simple function than a lot of plugins... sometimes there is a lot of updates needed and there is a conflicts that's why wordpress dashboard and website become too slow...

that mean you have Duplicate content on different domain names which lead to be penalized... and with the penguin updates you really have to care a lot about this kind of stuffs...

Sure we are all agree that wordpress is a good blogging platforme but to say it's will lead traffic directly it's wrong.. you will need to combine some good plugins then a unique content and sure being patient and keep updating your blog(s).
