I'm thinking about majoring in graphic design. When you have a career in graphic design, do you have to illustrate and design on your own using the computer or can you use the help from the computer to design and illustrate? Also, what kinds of careers are there for graphic design?

Can anyone recommend a good graphic design book? I have to add that I'm looking for something which deals with theory / insight into design practice - I think if I see another book filled with images I will scream
