Just created a new banner design for my site, what do you think?

Okay, so I'm trying to make my website customer friendly for the company I support called Motor Club of America or MCA. The company offers affordable roadside assistance memberships. Friends, could you give me a critique on the layout and banner design? Thanks! Website at the bottom.

I'm glad you were honest up front about the fact that you basically just added a new banner to the Twenty Twelve theme. A lot of ppl come on here having done that and try to pass it off as their own work.

As far as the banner is concerned: I like each of the elements taken individually, but together, they just don't work. We go from corporate-style logo to relaxed cartoony guy against a not-so subtle gradient. It looks like you made a design portfolio header and tried to just squeeze the MCA logo into it.

Again, taken individually, the elements are pretty good, but they just don't work together.

Just a quick comment, the original banner image is 1096px wide but your largest page width post-padding is 960px. Letting a web browser reduce images containing text and any intricate detail can make your hard work look blurred.

My easy-gain tip would be to either save your work out as SVG (if possible) or rescale your artwork and text before rasterising out at 960px - you would then need a different solution to maintain fidelity when it's responsive but that's a different story! :)

What ronald said ;) plus...
is the cartoon guy from Startrek? :)

it would be better if you have an original logo to work with in vector format, or at least a png or even a gif rather than that jpeg you've inserted into the banner - it just looks a bit shoddy and dirty. if you don't have a vector version i would recreate - as mentioned by

also not sure why but the font has breaks in the letter loops where they flow into the letter - is that a font problem or ?? if you convert the font to outlines/path then you could patch over those breaks or then do it in your image editor

Not Bad at all! I would get rid of the Cartoon! Also it seems the the logo you use on the left is of different color blue. It's darker than the whole outer Blue Border. FIX!

Thanks everyone for the critique, I took heed to your idea Ronald about the cartoon guy and have used him elsewhere. Instead, I've replaced him with the original MCA logo and it works perfectly, thanks again for the swift critiques everyone, I needed that.

The banner looks good and so does the site too considering the fact it was built on the simplest but awesome wordpress free theme. If the image quality was a little better and it was litte more brighter, it would have been even cooler. I would recommend using a really dark banner or a really bright one to match the other colors of the website. Good luck with the same bud!!

Surprised no one has commented on the lack of responsiveness of the site. You need a responsive layout for the mobile users.
