hi,

could you guys please re-review the website.

I made this from scratch, was quite happy with it ... but still feels like something is missing?

What is good? What needs to be changed? What doesn't work at all...?

The site is online since 07/2012, I've added some more content and changed the content a bit too:
used to have a section for artworks, one for posters, one for manga, ...

Got some feedback I was trying to offer too much at once ...

Now its only about gaming and gameplay.

Thanks already for your feedback ;-)

Reminds me of a recently released operating system ^^ Try change the colour of the "SOURCE" text on the Game-News page? Hurts a little to read against the grey background. Unless you were going for the whole stealth vibe...
The colour of the font on the Guestbook page could also do with a bit of anti-camo. Try making it brighter.
The copyright text in the footer only appears on the Game-Shots and Home page.
Just a thought, the right side of the Game-News page looks a bit bare, try adding a sidebar or something?
Also, favicons make the world a better place ;)
Nice effort overall though. I like this one. :)

could you please advise?

thanks all for the pos reactions.

Thanks! I'm on it...

don't know what to do with this right now... would like to create my own picto's/favicons in time

Just a thought, the right side of the Game-News page looks a bit bare, try adding a sidebar or something?
probably right .. but what to put there: the headers of the news?

I'm still struggling with some design issues: could you guys advise how I could make the site more appealing/attractive? Would like to attract more (returning) users/visitors. What could you suggest?

Thanks for your feedback ;)

I noticed your sub-pages do not have meta tags (keywords, descriptions). I suggest updating those pages with unique meta tags for better search engine rankings.

review site content and purpose

Hi,

thanks all for the great reviews.

What I don't understand: I get nothing but great reviews about the design of my website (for which many many thanks), but I don't think the site is attracting many new users or returning users.

I don't know if there are many videogame fanatics here, but maybe you could also review what I'm offering / trying to do with the website content?

_ what am I doing wrong?
_ what is missing?
_ what should I remove?
_ is the site (content) totally not interesting?
_ ...

Videogaming is big business and there are millions of hardcore videogamers out there, still I'm having trouble finding people willing to co-op on this project?

I placed an ad on my website (about page) and also on various forums that I'm looking for game reviewers etc... , but still no succes.

Thanks for the tips (where I can get more help on this) ;-).

Honestly, I don't think it works. Don't get me wrong, the front page looks pretty cool. However, if you're coming to a site looking for news and reviews, what is the first thing you expect to see? News and reviews. What you've done here basically amounts to a splash page - a horrible relic from the 90's. It might work pretty well for a mobile site, but on desktop it just doesn't go, man.

On your other pages, you're getting there. The logo is too close to the top of the nav. The font in the nav is way too small. I'm sure you probably did that to be able to cram the links in, but people will have a hard time reading that. And even if they don't, the links are difficult to scan with your eyes. I have 2 suggestions for you in that case:

1.) Reduce the number of links. Take Youtube off and put it on one of those corner banners. Here's an article on how, though there are better ways to do it. Guestbook? Gone. Scrap the whole page. This isn't the 90's. Put the about link in your footer or get rid of it. If you were a mom-and-pop business selling hand-crafted whatever, an about link would work, but it doesn't work here. You're a magazine-type site. Have it, just not on the main nav.

2.) Split the nav into 2 lines.

The blog-style pages feel like they're going to fall over, because they're too heavy on the left side. Center the images and videos. There are tutorials everywhere for it.

You're on track, man. You've definitely got one thing going: the site is refreshingly uncluttered. Most VG blogs (*cough* Joystiq *cough*) have such cluttered messes for sites, they're hard to read outside of an RSS reader. Speaking of which, if you're a blog, you'll want to set up an RSS feed.

One question: are you coding this in just straight HTML?

Hi,

following the feedback I received, I made some changes to the website:

1.
I noticed your sub-pages do not have meta tags (keywords, descriptions). I suggest updating those pages with unique meta tags for better search engine rankings.
I've updated all the subpages with metatags. Although apparently not everyone is convinced of their added value:
DO NOT ADD META KEYWORDS!!!!!!!1
Useless things have never been more useless.

2.
The font in the nav is way too small
I made them a bit bigger.

3.
Split the nav into 2
In order to be able to make to nav font bigger, I reduced the number of links in the main nav bar. The links 'home', 'contact' and 'about' are now located on top of the site.

4. I've added a carbon texture background ... let me know what you think of it.

5.
Take Youtube off and put it on one of those corner banners.
Very nice idea indeed, but didn't had the time to look into this yet.

Many remarks on the splash-screen that is apparently very '90s. But at this point I'm not going to change it, because:
1. I would like to have a news filled main screen, but since I'm currently alone on this website (also content), I don't have the time to update the mainpage with fresh news on a frequently basis.
2. I think it looks so cool with the colors on a dark background and the hover fx. I guess I'm more a '90s type of guy

One question: are you coding this in just straight HTML?
I'm not sure if I understand (why you ask) this question, but... yes html and css with some queries for the functionalities (fancybox). Don't know if this is an answer to your question? If not feel free to clarify your question.

I'm already excited about your feedback, thanks! ;)

just found out that I have a positioning difference of my top nav:
the nav is positioned as I want in chrome, but in firefox it is positioned too much to the left.

How can I add 2 seperate CSS (chrome specific and firefox specific) files in the same html file? I looked into this but couldn't find out how to do it.

Check this out in chrome and ff:

Thanks for your tips.
