Client Mock Up

Ok, so I've had some input from people from the mock ups I created and I'm showing my client his mock ups tomorrow evening, but I wanted to get some opinions from here to see what people think.

Note: This is a mock up so I know there some things askew such as one of the images on the slider being smaller than the other two images

Let me know what you think, this is the one that's being favored by everyone. It's not responsive, cause the client does not want that yet, it's strictly HTML5, CSS3, and a little bit of jQuery.

The overall layout looks good and flows well. The color scheme works well, though it may be a little muted. The header, though is pretty underwhelming. Does the client have a logo they'll be using? Is there more you could put in there? If the answer to both of those are "no", consider making the header a bit smaller, and adding a tagline or more contact info.

"Communications" is misspelled, too.

Yeah, the client doesn't have a logo, this is just to see if he likes the design, I'll take into consideration the header issue, I'm thinking about for the tagline using his contact info, but for right now this is a mock up on my test server, just seeing what you guys think of the overall look and feel. and thank you fixed that misspelling...

I think the slider is too large.

certainly too large for my laptop.
even on my imac, at full screen there literally isn't any words "above the fold" and that's a height of 1200px!
on your "sample page" I'd make your footer stick to the bottom.

and definitely if they do not have a logo, then offer to create one for them.

I've been thinking about that too, the problem is... A good height is right around 400px, but the text above the fold would look incomplete without scrolling down but they would know it's there... I'll give it a try. 350 looks like it might work but im worried about the slider being too short at that point it would be more like a banner.

I've offered a logo, he's doing things in steps, first he wants his site up, then he will want a logo, then SEO, then responsive and then e commerce... so it's a good bit of on-going work, but he's taking it in steps as his business grows.

;) SEO I already have under control, because I'm a seasoned web designer and I know the processes. So organic SEO will already be set in place at launch based on the content given and I will modify as needed and this has already been discussed with the client. The logo, will be designed based on the colors of the site, whichever colors he chooses. The site is already set up for responsive, just have to add the code in. the ecommerce, we're gonna use wpcommerce as an extension. It's all been thought out. I know it's reversed but as a real web designer who knows what they're doing (unlike most with the exception for a select handful on this forum) I know the steps and planned for it accordingly.

We got it, but that's good info on the wrong way that the process is supposed to happen.

i've been looking into the footer issue... the only thing i can find that I don't want is a sticky footer.... I don't need that. What's my alternative?

turn of images in firefox or chome or whatever and say "and that's what search engines/Google sees". And people on screenreaders (i'm assuming the images aren't marked up very well either if the designer is sloppy)

I dont know if you're trying to point something out or make a statement, but this is a mock up so the images are going to change and there is no need for alt tags on images that are going to change, and a site that has dummy content.

i'm sorry, i made the right reply but to the wrong thread! please ignore the comment, it's not directed at your site :)

ok your site:
the letters are too far apart in the logo - typo in communications
as mentioned the slider is huge - just way too tall

underline or make the links in the right bar a different colour

otherwise it's looking good

Holy Schnikies! The first page is overwhelming and the above the fold image is way to large. Rework the sizing and scale before you continue!
