Hi, I have Gimp, but now see that I cant learn that much on it. I want to learn more graphics and get better at it, for my websites I want to build,
Is there any other graphic program thats as good as or nearly as good or advanced as photoshop at a budget or for free, if thats possible.

I find it very hard to believe that any professional cant afford $50 month.
for that I get dreamweaver, fireworks, photoshop, illustrator, indesign, bridge and flash (not that I use it) ...and more.

And you could too. CS6 creative cloud...

There's another version of Photoshop. It's Photoshop elements. That's more or less five hundred bucks less.

Elements is more of a J.Q. Public sort of program for touching up your holiday snaps rather a usable tool for pro designers.

It would be a bit like riding Route 66 on a 50cc moped. You'll probably get there but the end result won't be too pretty.

Gimp just upgraded to 2, you might try getting the new one. As free software goes that's the best I know of. You could also use adobe's trial version.

We've got several Photoshop guru's in our office and one Corel Paintshop Pro & Draw guru.

Paintshop Pro has some features that are much easier and faster than what Photoshop can do. It's also cheap on Ebay, Our Corel girl likes x2 better than any of them and Draw9.

In our architectural millwork shop they use CorelDaw9 and x4 to layout full size drawings for wood signs they carve.
