A website for kids

Hello everybody I would be very grateful for your opinion and critique.

I'm working with a website for children - www.elektromagija.lt. Its design is old and unfriendly for users, navigation is messy and inconvenient so we (our company) want to redesign it.

We understand that a design for children should be colorful, with large buttons and a larger font of text. Maybe you have more insights about this design?

Also we would like to get feedback about the characters. We thought that they are rather unattractive, but users participating in the survey on Facebook says that the characters are cute and they like them... What do YOU think?

the colour is way to dark to be appealing across the board.

it needs to work on an ipad (think of your target market) so the flash navigation is OUT. flash may have a use on this site perhaps if you had some games but...

no tables (and no straight from PSD > HTML)

I'm well out of your target market and my daughter (4) i'd guess would be below it so I can't comment on the characters, sorry.

The site is good but the color combination is not appealing for children. Try lighter and more attractive color. I also suggest to add an English page for the site.

Not very bad at all. Are you in the market for a redesign or overhaul of any kind?
