Should you use other domains .me .info .im

I'm thinking of starting a new site. I want to know if the other domain names apart from .com, .net, .org and .co.uk are worth bothering with.

Has website.me or website.info got as good a chance as the other ones or do the search engines ignore them?

Also, there's a new domain name - website.uk.com . Its much more expensive and it seems to be a server within the www.uk.com domain. Do search engines like it?

You should try to register another domain name if the desired name is not available with the .com tld because most web users have a habit of hitting Ctrl+Enter after typing the domain name and this makes then visit the .com version even though your site is hosted at another .tld other than .com , this makes you lose a lot of traffic.

Search engines won't rank you higher or lower by your tld, except with .info tlds. Every .info domain that is added to the Google database have less Search Engine Rank Position (SERP) compared to other Top Level domains (TLD) . Because Godaddy and many other vendors sells .info domains from 99cents and thereby , there are millions of domain raised in the last few years in this TLD. This has also made many spammers to take the position in Web and in the Search Engine.

You should try and avoid using .info domain names. If you have different choices from .info, use it! .net, .cc, .nl etc are all great as well!

You can use any domain you like.Many people say that .info domain used for spamming.But I never agree with that as I have seen lots of dot info site in the top position in google.Its all about content.Domain does not matter at all.

Well it really depends on the nature of the site. If it's a personal site, .me would be okay. For information-based site, .info is applicable. If you're creating a business website, it's better if you use .com, .biz, or. net domains.

.com is preferable to use for business

I always stick to .com
But I recently saw threewords.me launch, go viral and sell for what is believed to be a decent amount,
about.me is another site that sold for a lot more.
So if you get a good one, that makes sense, I would go for it.
