Social bookmark traffics

What if you fail to reach front page of social bookmark sites like Digg.com, Reddit.com. Do you still get traffic from them? How much? Please share your experiences. Thanks.

I recently had opportunity to read one blog post, where blogger talked about his experience about getting to digg's homepage.
His server crashed same day because he got about 40 K visitors, and his server was far from being able to handle such traffic in one day...

Basically the idea of such social book marking sites is not to reach the front page and find success. Basically more followers you have on digg, more is your visibility and more exposure to your messages, so look for having more targeted followers.

Yes that's true nedo. It's call Digg effect!:)

You can still get a visitor from Social Bookmarking sites. SB is also for another backlink even your post didn't make up to the top results. Try Article Submission.

If social Bookmarking isn't working for you article submission probably will. Try to submit to sites that have a high PR and that follow links.

Being interesting of your article and your network actually serves big factor on gathering traffic from social bookmarking sites.

Yes, I still generate some traffic from social bookmarking. What I often do is that I share those links to other sites too, so the traffic is multiplied eventually.

I am not sure on this one does it count as duplicate content?

Also can you reccomend any high PR article subssion sites, I hear them talked about but there isn't much name dropping.

Definitely, but not as much as those who are on the front page. ;) If you wish to make your bookmarks viral, I mean you get more votes and visitors will turning to your bookmarks every now and then, make sure your bookmarks interesting. Do some link baiting, but this strategy can be pretty tricky but once you've done it right, bullseye!

I don't know how all this works, I'm just a newbie, but I prefer to post only on dofollow social bookmarking services. Actually I don't think this can bring a lot of traffic, but maybe my links get some juice from such sites.

I prefer dofollow too. I think it works both ways, they broadcast I contribute content or whatever assets.

SunanR, what the social bookmarking services that dofollow?

Submitting to do follow sites really will help! I'd also rather submit on do follow sites. :)
