My first SEO project

Hey Guys,

So I was just assigned my first SEO project for the following site:

Cook Man Food

Was hoping for a little bit of feedback. Initially I have come up with the following ideas.

1) Change the title tags to include more sough after key words including char broil and barbeque

2) Restructure blog postings to be more keyword focused (one or two per post), and provide more copy to posts containing videos and images.

3) We have the strength of 4000 followers on twitter, so instead of simply saying new blog post, give a brief description followed by link.

4) Make the Store more visible in the blog

5) add store items to google marketplace

6) link from the store back to the main site

7) sprinkle in blog content focused on some of the products they offer.

It seems to me this site has done well in building a strong link base and social media following, but for some reason the blog has been quite stagnant. I got these ideas based on about 2 hours of looking through the page, what do you guys think?

The overall goal is to generate more sales through the store, therefore we are focusing on traffic yes.

I did use the Google keyword tool and included what I thought were the best keywords in my report and suggestions...

ll good make sure you download a pr checker tool and search for forums to place a backlink to your site. Google likes to see mor backlinks coming from websites with 4 and above Pr Ratings. To learn more about SEO tips check out my site: http://www.sdwebworks.com

Overall, your plan seems to be pretty solid. My main concern with the stated goal above is that the store is basically invisible now.

After reading through the thread, I went to the site, and it took me a good few minutes to find a link to the online store when I was actually looking for it. Since it's above the logo and not in the blue links section (which stands out far more than the brown on brown links) and then once you click the "Online Store" link it just takes you to a post -about- the store, not the store itself.

Generating more sales is going to largely revolve around getting the blog viewers to actually visit the store, so you really need to focus on making it easier to get there. Definitely make the store links more prevalent: bolder, a different color, something to make it stand out. I'd also recommend making the links go directly to the store, rather than requiring another click.

If possible, also set up Google Analytics (or some other tracking program if you prefer) on both the blog site and store site. You can use that to figure out where people are entering and exiting your sites and figure out where you're losing users and what you can improve to convert more to sales.

From a strictly SEO perspective, you could also take advantage of meta keyword and description tags. They're not as useful as they used to be, but still helpful.

Best of luck!

~ Nathan

you need to research on what exactly the site has to offer and create a keywords list based on monthly search volumes and start targeting those words in your seo efforts.

Well, I'd do the basics of SEO... Sitemap submission, backlink building, directory submission, blog commenting, YT channel etc.
