Search engines often use the number of backlinks that a website has as one of the most important factors for determining that website's search engine ranking.

There are several factors that determine the value of a backlink. Backlinks from authoritative sites on a given topic are highly valuable. If both sites have content geared toward the keyword topic, the backlink is considered relevant and believed to have strong influence on the search engine rankings of the webpage granted the backlink. more>>

Blame it on competition. Google dance happens because of that. You should build more quality backlinks for your site to get a much more stable ranking.

I agree with the others. Competition is getting stiff as each and everyone wants to be in the top rank. I think, you must continue optimizing your site to stay in top!

Google isn't working for quantity anymore, it's all about quality. Google's best product is their search engine. Their clients are the people that looking for something online.

Google is #1 because they are working hard to provide quality and targeted results. You hate when you getting search results with bad links... It's annoying. So, Google changing their formula all the time, to let them provide the best search engine in the world.

You, as a business provider, are in second level. They want to help you, but you have to be professional. That is mean, you have to work hard to look expert and to be loved by other quality sites.

Work on your quality, maybe your quantity isn't the best variable in the formula right now! ;)

Google commonly switches website's SERP. It's not uncommon to see this for the first few weeks or even months of the life of a website.

Probably some of your backlinks have been deleted. However you have to work on off site seo continuously if you want a consistent position in search engines.

It would also be good to note that time plays a factor in this as well. when google found your page it was new interesting relevant content to them. If you have not updated the page or the site for that matter at all. your rankings will continue to fall. the backlinks can help prevent this if when users go to your page they are on it for a good period of time. google sees this as the user has found the content relevant or if the user continues to view other pages on your site. if you just have traffic flooding to the page with out relevant content the user will leave quickly. google also tracks this.
