I want to be able to see the most searched sites in my city. My competitors are saying they are the most searched site in monore. How can you validate that or see the top ten searches in your city

The top ten for which key terms and in which search engine?

Identify the key term(s) enter it in to the search box followed by your city and hit search.

You can also verify if they had a traffic counter on their website, all you must to do is to see visitors/day and compare with some important other sites from that city or you can try the pagerank.

The "most searched sites" is a rather confusing term to use. Do the mean they ranked number one for their keyword in monroe....which depending on their keyword may not be a fantastic claim.

Can you post their URL?

Depend on what field of site you have and from there you can try with find the most keyword search, for example in my city and my personal site using for portfolio as graphic and web designer, so everybody use words "Web Designer Jakarta" as populer keywords

All the best you can do it to link build for your site and include the specific place on your anchor text so you will get chances to rank on that keyword with specific area.

You can enter in Google keyword tool the keyword + city name. The tool will provide you the searches (if they exists) for your keywords. ;)

I like going in to the free version of Google AdWords and typing in about 6 or 7 keywords followed by the city. Here you will find the best in your city as they show near the top for numerous keywords.

My guess is it would be considered "Puffery".

Puffery as a legal term refers to promotional statements and claims that express subjective rather than objective views, such that no reasonable person would take them literally. Puffery serves to "puff up" an exaggerated image of what is being described and is especially featured in testimonials.
