I think best combination is article marketing and press releases for SEO. For traffic forum posting is great.

Hi,

Every SEO activity has it's own importance and benefits. Press release is important to spread your company and product news, bookmarking is important for fast indexing, etc.. Important thing is how you apply such activities in your strategies to rank better in search engines.

Social media websites can provide tons of valuable links if you manage to bring your SEO to the top.But you'll need all your creative power to do that and Write a press release about your company or product and submit it to PRWeb and similar resources.

I would agree that article marketing is the most effective. But you shouldn't rely just on this. Use as many methods as possible including:

article marketing
blog commenting
forum commenting
social bookmarking
directory submission
asking related sites to link to you

Everything is important. Just make sure that you've created quality of inbound links. The more quality of IBLs that you are getting, the higher chances for your site to get into top positions.

An effective SEO campaign should be a combination of onpage and offpage factors. Good contents and metatags must be coupled with quality linkbuilding!

With the size of social media and large mediums like , face book, twitter, dig, and so on and so on, i wouldnt treat seo on its self, i would keep SEO and Online exposure together as one package. So focus on both obtaining exposure on the large social mediums mentioned above, and also put in the seo work with techniques URL rewrites, Submissions, meta data / content etc. It is some thing we do with companies over here, moving away from the SEO term and towards a general marketing approach
