Too many font sizes and weights! It lacks flow, continuity. It gives me the impression you (the company) is indecisive or has ADD. No offense. In terms of fonts, please use something more unique....

Your nav is disappearing because the jquery script is set to find a generic "li" element. It is finding the first list item () in your nav element and setting the opacity to zero..hiding it. ...

why not have a link with the image inside? The link then point to the url of your choice and you can host the image so there will not be any attachments. Like so:

Yes the image effect can be achieved through javascript / jquery. Look in their .hover() function.
