My First Site Advice needed

I'm new to the borad and have just created my first website, sadly as a school project so didn't have to much fun. For me to complete this i need a larger amount of traffic to visit my site and could you provide me with your comments and suggestions. I initially added a s in lycos and it didnt work, but it works now.
Those popup ads can be a bit annoying. But the site looks ok, the header looks nice, although the size of the text looks a bit large, perhaps you should experiment with a slightly smaller font.
