bitmap & jpeg pics

When I (Save As) on a pic off the Internet and the save picture box pops up, it only alowes me to save it as a bitmap. It doesn't give me the choice to save it as e.g jpeg.
Is this normal? or is there anything I can do.

Also, I have noticed that more and more pics are now in bitmap rather than jpeg, any views?

It normally allows you to save it in the format it was created. You then need to use a graphics program to convert it to a jpeg
