Default Desperate for help with shopping cart site

Hi there,
Can anyone help me to find out why this site wont operate properly.
http://www.cccpatchwork.com.au
I can get into admin but cannot add or delete items. I also cannot edit the front page now.
This site was working fine and was moved to a different host.
Would it be something to do with the permissions?
I know little about php operations.
Thank you

What kind of errors are you getting? How old is the site? It could be some incompatibilities between php versions. It could be a number of things, really. The error messages you are getting will help figure out where the problem lies.

Hi Stephanie,
I have found that some of the permissions had not been changed over to 755.
I have done that and now we can use the admin to add and edit items but it wont give permission to delete.

Also everything looks ok but the shopping cart wont collect the orders as you click add to cart. It stays empty.
This is the biggest problem.

I really would appreciate any know how as i am not that experienced with trouble shooting programming stuff.

Also the site was running ok recently until it had to be swapped to another host. The host apparently said they are compatible with this site.

Which cart are you using? It's probably another permissions but one that isn't easy to find... but depending on the cart how easy it will be to fix... not that any are all that hard to work with.

They probably are compatible. Most of them are. However, sometimes updated versions of mySQL have a problem with older databases... especially if your scripts haven't been updated in awhile. That's what makes for incompatibilities.

The cart is WA ecart. I couldnt tell you how old the site is (not mine) but by the way the sit is constructed I wouldnt be surprized if the scripting isnt compatible?
The images are showing etc but the cart just wont register the orders
sorry about the delay in response. I have just subscribed to this thread so i can respond quicker. Dah

That might be a distinct possibility but here's a link which might help:

According to the specs, it is compatible across platforms, it just may take some tweaking to get it working right.

Oh dear. This is a headache. I did not create this site, nor do I have this cart program on my Dreamweaver. I do not know how to tweak unless I am pointed to the problem. I quess this one is beyond me but thank you so much for trying to help.

Well... if you don't have the program, there's really not much you can with it... Have you talked to your clients about changing shopping carts? There are oodles of free ones out there with great technical support via forums and help documents.

No not yet. I think they have spent their money with this designer 12 months ago and now have a site they had to move because the designer stopped working and since the move they haven’t been able to get it back up again. It is a COM site and I have suggested it could have been better designed but they are not really open to improvement as yet. I personally would like to build a Joomla or Mambo site for them with a blog or forum, and have it function as a better business opportunity for them, but to start again means more money spent. (Worth it though) *sigh* It could improve their business no end I feel. It hasn’t been optimised and the images are too heavy. Not to mention the design and text design discrepancies.
I have emailed their first designer hoping for an answer from him.

Ouch, that is a bad situation, for sure. Why not build a prototype they can look at and get a feel for how things should work? I know it's time on your part but it looks like you're in a sticky situation. It might be worth it in the long run.
