Can some IBL's hurt my website?
Can google penalize my site for some inbound links? For example from sites with low TrustRank?

Best to get good quality inbound links. Cannot answer your question with any authority, but google, despite saying to the contrary, can definitely penalise your site, if a site links to you in a way in which it does not like.
I know that for fact,as this site was not listed in google for over a year because of that, something completely out of my control, anyway they eventually fixed the problem.

According to me inbound links with low rank will not hurt your site. All inbound links are important. When your inbound links are coming from relevant sites with high PR, then those links are considered more as compared with low PR sites. So just try to get more relevant inbound links with high PR.
