Hi all,
I need some help here if you don't mind..

I need to build a mailing system, something like yahoo, hotmail or Gmail

and i don't know where to start.

i've been searching for mail servers ,and i found some good ones..

but what i need is some guidance on where to go from there.

if any of u have some experience in this field, plz just show me some steps on how to do that.

i'll be so gratefull

If you are after a third party remotely hosted email service, there are places like
http://www.everyone.net they charge now
http://www.bigmailbox.com used to be free, you would have to check their site now.

If you are looking just for an email script to host yourself, there are scripts like http://www.socketmail.com/site/home/

squirrelmail is the one we use and it works very nicely.

will this be built upon a *nix based server or a windows based server. also, will you be using a shared hosting enviornment or a dedicated server?

if you are going professional, private label is good.

Can somebody please tell me how SquirrelMail works? I'm confused... Where do i host the email thingy etc.
