how important are directory for seo?

Bit of an old thread but thought it was worth saying that it is still worth submitting your site to directories. Look for high page rank directories, localised if possible. You may need to pay for some listings but it's worth it if they are dofollows and they increase your page rank.

I disagree. Directory's certainly have their value, but they are by no means critical.

directory submission are very important to a web site's growth and popularity, if done properly it can give a web site a massive boost and attract thousands of visitors over night.

Submitting to directories will not generally help SEO or traffic. Yahoo and Dmoz directories are good for SEO and traffic. Most of other directories gives very small value. But if you are getting links from geographically related and niche directories, benefits will be good.

I read that Google doesn't count recipricals from directories much anymore. Press releases are a much better way to go I think and I have just started using them.

Direcotry submission is really good for site ranking and increase traffice on our site. We can do one way directory submission, Two Way And Three Way Directory submissions.. There are also paid directory submission but its not preferable..

So Submit your site in High PR directories.. Its an easy task..
