Very good. I spoke to a Designer once who scoffed at the idea that there was such a thing as Design Theory and Principals. Needless to say he was self taught, and not particularly good!

The safe color suggestion seems a bit out of date. I think it has evolved and more than six colors can be used if done right. Everything else looked good for beginners.

Add some gradient images. Center and change the G Ads panel's background color to green.
