Different Companies for Hosting + Domain Registrar

Hello to all!

I want to launch this website and I used 1and1 to park my domain about a month ago. I did this so it wouldn't get taken by anyone else.
The time has come when I finished my design, and I registered for a hosting account with fatcow.

Will it be possible that my domain will work even though it's registered with 1and1? If so, how? I tried to transfer it from 1and1 to fatcow but I will be charged a fee. Plus, a transfer from 1and1 to fatcow requires a minimum of 60 days for the domain to be registered, it has only been about 45 days.

A Google search said that I could change the DNS address to fatcow's, but I don't know how that would work out.

You should be able to set things up without having to re-register. Some of this will depend on your hosting plans but you should be able to do it.

1) Find out the IP addresses of your DNS servers on Fatcow
2) Add your 1and1 domain to your Fatcow hosting as an add-on domain
3) Set the DNS servers on your 1and1 hosting to the IP addresses of your Fatcow plan

If anything is an issue, the registrar should be able to assist you as well.
