Hello, My name is James. I'm new too the forum, so Hello!
Anyway, I've been Web designing for Several months and I am getting no-where with it. I want to start doing Graphic design, instead of using my own codes all the time. I've had a look at some layouts on here, and they look pretty good. Where can I start of? What Program can I use? and Where can I get any tutorials? Thank you, James. |

Welcome to the world of GFX design then James.
![]() First off, for a newbie GFX program I suggest GIMP: http://www.gimp.org/ GIMP is pretty much a free mockup of Adobe's Photoshop program [which costs a few hundred dollars]. After that, I suggest doing search on google for free graphics tutorials. ![]() Hope this helps you. |

Thank you for the reply, But I've used Photoshop before, I've actually got the whole package. So I'm pretty use to it.
So, I basicly need to go through some Tutorials, And would I need to learn HTML/PHP/Java in order to design a website? |

Start w/ learning the client side first- html & javascript (not java)
After you've got that down you can make your site more dynamic by pulling info from databases with php. Check out a list apart & 456 berea street for some tutorials- because you do need to know code to design websites.

Don't build websites with TABLES. They are not designed for that. Their purpose is for tabular data (like a pricing matrix, or like there of). Take the time to learn how to position DIVs, ULs, SPANs with CSS. You will thank yourself in the end. Feel free to ask questions, good luck.

If you want to learn and do graphic design, then I think the software that you can use is adobe Illustrator. For me, I would prefer illustrator rather than photoshop when it comes to a cooler look of graphics. But i don't know with you guys. That's just from my opinion. I also use photoshop but this software is more of the photo-editing stuff. Choose the Illustrator.

You can't really learn graphic design by using a program like illustrator or photoshop, they're just tools. Getting an idea on graphic design theory and principals might help.
