Any gimp users here?
I have used it as a free Photo Shop alternative for a long time now, I still wish I had a copy of Photo Shop, but after all they do charge you an arm and a leg. |

I use GIMP for linux. The old versions aren't spectacular and I often still find myself reverting back to photoshop at times... But i think that you'll be plesantly surprised when you install the new release - 2.6. I haven't yet got round to updating myself but I have herd some very good reviews!
As for Adobe charging a lot - theres no doubt about that! But i'm sure that you can find a copy for free if you search hard enough. I have copies of the CS, CS2, CS3 and CS4 master collections and i certainly didn't pay for any of them! :-)

for years. As for Gimp, I never got a hang of how to use it. It seems my mind has been locked to PhotoShop for ever. I might actually try a newer version now that you mention it! Widen my horizons a bit.

As for me, Gimp is a great alternative to photoshop if you are doing basic operations. I have not yet tried Gimp scripting tools (and do not even know if any are present) - i find them a good use in PS.
Anyways, from release to release Gimp looks better and better. I like it!
