I'm looking at updating my website, http://www.philnolan3d.com , the code is pretty old since I've been using Dreamwever MX up until now, I've switched to DW CS3.
So want to update the gallery pages in particular and am thinking of doing something with Spry widgets. Thing is I'm totally new to anything past 1996 era HTML and beyond that I'm not very good with code. I've made up a quick little video showing something like what I'd like to do. Basically a bunch of thumbnails on the left and when clicked the main picture would slide over, or even just fade in, along with descriptive text. http://s151.photobucket.com/albums/s...ery_test_s.flv The part that gets tricky is that as you can see on my current gallery pages there are a LOT of thumbnails so the user would have to scroll up and down through them. Also as you can see the images are grouped with one bit of text describing the whole group, it be a little strange for the viewer if they're clicking through images and the same text is appearing and disappearing. Is there any way of doing this that won't be extremely complicated? Last edited by philnolan3d; 08-13-2008 at 05:49 AM. |

Spry will work but I think Lightbox will save a bit of time. Nice designs Phil...

Thanks, Lightbox looks like it might be the easiest solution and I wouldn't be limited in the size of the image displayed, so thi seems to cover every problem I can think of. Now I'll just figure out how to use it. lol

Gah! I got it working with the first image, So I added the code to the rest of the thumbnails and it stopped working on all of them. Funny thing is it works fine offline, but not online. Any thoughts?
http://philnolan3d.com/gallery_test2.html Edit: OK got it all fixed up. Seems to be working fine now. Thanks again! Last edited by philnolan3d; 08-14-2008 at 04:21 AM. |

OK could someone look at this and see if you can tell what I'm doing wrong? It was working, now I tried to make the page again and it just opens the image like a normal link.
http://www.philnolan3d.com/2008/3dgal.html Edit: OK I fixed it by using Lytebox instead, but Lytebox doesn't tell you where to put the lytebox images (next, prev, etc) and they aren't showing up. Last edited by philnolan3d; 08-15-2008 at 05:14 AM. |
