If you're talking about getting indexed in Google, then an xml sitemap using sitemaps.org protocols is the preferred format - like this - http://www.intuitivebydesign.com/sitemap.xml

For syndicating content, articles, etc., use an RSS feed - like this - http://intuitivebydesign.com/website...s-business.xml
