Is it possible to "water down" your SEO with too many keywords in your alternate text?

I have a lot of "glitters" on my website, but nobody seems to find them through Google. I was thinking it's because of having too many keywords in the alt codes...I was going to change them all to just "glitter", if this is the case.

Just thought I'd ask before I go messing things up.

Maybe that is the reason as rule SEO experts recommend have 3-4 keywords per page.

It might be. Adding too many unrelated keywords to many of the web graphics alt tags is not recommended. Only a few top graphics or links might need them.

Thanks. I'm gonna go and remove a tonne of keywords from my alt tags!

Nobody likes diluted squash, so who'd want diluted keywords?
