Hmm....http://www.flamingpear.com/ has some really good filters. I'm guilty as hell for overusing their Melancholytron filter:
 The bleach-bypass filter is another one I've used a lot lately, in an effort to achieve the effect that today's movie and tv poster designers have ALSO overused. You know the bleach-bypass, it's that grainy, washed out look in movies like "Saving Private Ryan" or "Minority Report." Red Paw Media's bleach bypass filter is perfect for this: http://photoshop.pluginsworld.com/pl...hop&plugin=710 It's only for PC, though. You can accomplish something like it on a Mac- or if you can't get the filter to work on a PC, for some reason. I've written a small tutorial describing the procedure here: http://www.agonyagogo.com/photos/ms8st.html Look way down at the bottom and ignore everything else. The Red Paw Media version is a lot easier and user friendly. Do NOT use any filter involving the Lens Flare. It's not 1989 anymore and everyone's seen it a million times and you're not fooling anyone. Kurt

anything by http://www.alienskin.com/ is good for your generic photoshopping of textures, also http://www.philipp-spoeth.de/photoshop/retrodots.php is great for making halftones out of selections with feather applied.
flaming pear is great with a few of their filters. i personally like their "circle to square" filter, "transline" filter, and their "india ink" filters. other than that ... i use alot of actions that i either script out myself or find online. And alot of custom brushes, patterns and things like that. you can find alot of free ones online to get you started ... but just remember ... everyone uses them so it's always better to make your own. |

I dont really have any add-ons. The only thing I really add to photoshop is custom patterns (repeating) that I make myself or find online. Then I can use them in the future.

Three Must-Have Photoshop Plug-ins :
1)Noise Ninja is one of the newer kids on the block, but in the couple of years that it's been available it has gone through constant upgrades. A new plug-in version has been in public beta for some months during late 2004, and in Feb 2005 has started shipping. As good as Noise Ninja was, I am always frustrated by image processing utilities that are stand alone programs. Having to switch back and forth between programs, loading and unloading files, can slow one down. Plug-ins simply make the workflow that much more straightforward. 2)Convert to B&W Pro (CTBWP from now on) is a Photoshop plug-in that actually makes the conversion process a joy. You are provided with a variable size preview window, (only on the new Mac version, regrettably), and a full set of tools for adjusting the image to just the way you want it to appear. And for those photographers coming from a background in black and white film processing and printing, the controls are even labeled with their analogue equivalents, right down to being able to choose multi-grade contrast. 3)Photokit Sharpener. Designed and written by six of the world's leading Photoshop educators, Photokit Sharpener is a powerful set of image sharpening tools designed to approach the task appropriately from both a workflow and an image quality perspective. |
