SEO is the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via "natural" search results for targeted keywords.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a process of fine tuning your website to get higher rankings on Internet Search Engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN.

It is also called as natural results because we do not have to pay to search engine to get listed in Search Engine database.

SEO is also never ending process.

Last time, SEO is becoming a separate IT specialization. People learn, how these "black box" things, search engines, work and promote websites using different techniques.

Since this is in Graphics Design forum, I would say SEO for image search is all about the 5 attributes of the IMG tag: src, alt, title, width and height.

Make sure the image source is correct (not broken :P), meaningful alt and title, specify width and height for advance image search.

This would be a great way to do things if the width and height values were simply to signify the dimensions of the image and not to regulate them. Doesn't Google check the dimensions of the full image regardless of what size they appear to be? Or am I totally lost here? I'm not too big on graphics..

For width and height, I have read an article about the needed of them a few years back when image search just came out. I guess I just keep using them from then on. Also I used them because it actually helps browser rendering. But at the end of the day, the W3C specification says they are optional parameters ...

But on the side, image searches does help a lot in SEO, especially you are in an ndustry where visualization is important. But that's industry-specific.

Your question is not clear to me anyhow Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via "natural" ("organic" or "algorithmic") search results. Typically, the earlier a site appears in the search results list, the more visitors it will receive from the search engine. SEO may target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, and industry-specific vertical search engines.
