Help with browser detection please.

Hello,

I'am running a website from home (iis), nothing fancy, I have PHP. I've noticed that my site doesn't work well on IE, but perfectly on Firefox.

Could someone please help me write a script, or some html, so that if IE is detected, the user be taken to an alternate page that asks them to use firefox instead?

I'am crap at all this ATM but I intend to get better, so you may need to respond as you would to a child.

Google ie conditional statements. Will tell u all u need to know.

Nobody else on this forum likes IE either, but be aware that if you tell an IE user to try Firefox instead, you will most likely lose that visitor to your site. Better to make it compatible with all browsers.

bill is right, although i usually do a redirect for ie6.

Each to their own, i just dont see the numbers for ie6 warrant the effort
(unless the client really “needs“ ie6 to work).

Ie7+ is a different thing altogether.
They can be targetted with their own conditional and given an alt css.

This very well said. Put yourself as the visitor, would like to waste your time waiting for the redirection and or changing your browser into the compatible one?!?
