I'm in the process of learning code and having trouble becoming fluent in it. So I'm wondering...what does everybody do to help become fluent in code. Practice tips/ hints to learning etc. would be great.

Write code...a lot. Read about code...a lot. Rewrite the code you read about...a lot.

You need a project that forces you into learning the code otherwise it's all a bit aimless. Find someone who wants something for free and then set about building it - beware though that they may not want it in the end.
