Default Registering A Domain & Hosting

So, this is a general topic. I want to register a domain and host it with Google. Do I have to go through their site thing? Also, I'm looking for some good names for my design company.

I would recommend registering your domain name through a registrar like Godaddy or NameCheap. Then host it with a known hosting company. Leaves the search engine stuff to google.

How much disk space and bandwidth do you need?

What is the target of your audience? Any budget requirements?

I didn't know Google was into hosting now. I wouldn't recommend using them though. I agree with the other posters. I would recommend Blue Host. The link is in my signature.

I'd stay away from Google hosting.

Hmmm??

hosting4bs ...

That's almost an appropriate username for a hosting shill.

Though bs4hosting would be even closer!

Google don't offer "web hosting", but you can use your domain for gmail or APPs, however, as the others told you, it's better to talk to a local web hosting company where you perhaps can get a good deal, better than work with a big brother as godaddy, etc.

Are you quite sure about that??

What about Blogger/Blogspot? They are all hosted by Google.

Talking Domain name and hosting provider

I would suggest you create an account with a hosting company rather, one where you could manage your own account and add other features and products in the future as your business grows. Think about email accounts, online storage, setting up databases for cms etc. Use Google just for analytics and webmaster tools.
When choosing a domain name try make it a catchy, memorable name. We started with a name no one could remember and it was not beneficial for us
Later changed to http://OrangeFishDesign.com, much more random and memorable. Good luck!
