Default Image Filtering on Websites

Are there any websites out there that use image filtering services or programs, and are there any open source filters like this? I'm aware many websites use reporting systems to find inappropriate images, but I would prefer to automate this process as much as possible. Any ideas?

Most PHP web servers have a package called GD Library installed for manipulating images on the server. It does have the ability to read the colour code of each individual pixel so you could scan the image with this and filter accordingly if it has to much flesh tones for instance. However it's never going to be reliable and human policing of the images either by site admin or users is the only practical method... sorry
