Splash Layout Showing Incorrectly With IE8

Big problem. A third of viewers of my site are using IE8 but the layout shows up incorrectly through this browser. All other browsers show fine.

Does IE say there is an error on the page?

Nope.

The problem seems to be with the mouseover text effect. In IE8 when the cursor's not over the image the galleries appear directly after the logo & over the main image, positioned to the right instead of centered which looks a mess. Microsoft are stubborn gits with their outdated browsers. No problems with any of the other popular browsers.
