I developed my first website about 5 months ago and so far it has been quite successful in promoting my holiday cottages (see: www.carntowan.com). To make it more interesting I would like to add a webcam image of the view from the property. Since the cottages are 300 miles from my main house I want the system to be fully automatic i.e. no PC on site.
Reasonably good image definition at a distance would be needed. Since the relevant view is to the west (or west-south-west) direct sunlight would enter the lens from about midday so an automatic iris would be useful or the images would probably have to be restricted to the morning. I thought of starting with still images updated at intervals during the day from a wired, indoor camera. Later this might be replaced with an outdoor, wireless pan/tilt camera. For the initial solution an ordinary telephone link would be ideal but broadband can be installed. Can anyone recommend equipment and software or links to helpful information? Thanks, Nick |
